Match Report:
🏆 B grade = PREMIERS Chelsea (38) Vs Somerville (33) What more can we say about the B grade team, if perfection existed we’d be bloody close. ✔️undefeated ✔️ minor premiers ✔️ premiers After finishing top of the ladder and having the first week off we met Tyabb in our first final and won to advance straight through to the GF. Right from warm up the team was on a mission and went in with an amazing level of focus and mindset of getting the job done. We came out firing in the first quarter and everyone had put a great level of intensity out on court. We knew it was going to require our best effort and 60 minutes of hard work to get the win. After the first half we really bumped things up a notch and utilised the depth of our rotations to capitalise on a tiring Somerville side. Although the margin was tight we maintained a good level of control over the game for the entirety with little doubt that we could do what was required to get the win. Michelle Hyndman, Jenna Howe & Rebecca Colak were critical in this game all playing their role to get tips, intercepts and rebounds when we needed them to get extra scoring opportunities. While Rebecca Graham was steady, consistent and calm in attack scoring really reliably and must be congratulated for being awarded the best on court medal with a great performance. Unfortunately this will be Beck’s last game as she too has decided to retire and will really be missed. This win was the perfect end to a perfect season and absolutely the cherry on top for a team that has worked tirelessly to be a supportive, connected and enjoyable team to be part of. What a season B grade, congratulations. ▪️ SEE YOU IN 2023 ▪️ 🫶🏼🥈🏆💙🤍🏆🥈🫶🏼

Match Report:
🥈C grade = RUNNERS UP Chelsea (36) Vs Hastings (45) The C grade team pulled out some awesome performances in their finals campaign. After losing their first final to Somerville which lit a fire in their bellies they played and won 2 awesome games against Karingal and Somerville to get to the GF. However, when GF day rolled around unfortunately it wasn’t our day. The teams effort and work rate could not be faulted, however we just couldn’t get the jump on Hastings who came out on a mission. Unforced errors hurt us a little and we just couldn’t find the connections that had served us well in the previous weeks. Tayla Ingram found her confidence and played a great game with lots of talk, while Grace Turner stood up when needed and really worked hard to shut down the WA. Meg Cawley got some critical intercepts and rebounds for the team. Sadly this game was the last game for 2 of our squad members with Stephanie Henson & Tara Michelle hanging up their runners and retiring from Saturday netty. Both of the girls are so loved and admired in the squad and will be greatly missed. There will be more on this shortly. Overall although this was a result that we didn’t want, we cannot he disappointed in the runners up title, we worked hard, we won some great finals and we formed incredibly strong bonds as a team. Well done to Jo Camilleri & the C grade team on a successful season.

Match Report:
🥈 D Grade = RUNNERS UP Chelsea (34) Vs Hastings (37) The D grade girls had a great finals series with wins over Pearcedale & Hastings to make it to the GF. But unfortunately just couldn’t get over the premiership hurdle. With a slow start in the first quarter with Hastings coming out firing we were down by 9 goals and had our work cut out for us. After re-grouping at quarter time however we were able to find our feet and really fight for the game. Adelle Ulbrick was great in defence and had a tough task, it was a battle between the league best & fairest Vs the league sharp shooter and it was awesome to watch. Mikaela Malane played a really inspired game and tried her absolute heart out for her team, while Claudia Lennox did some great work to shut down a dominant WA. Unfortunately as the game went on and in the dying minutes despite a really great fight back and high effort until the very end some rushed passages of play allowed Hastings to make the most of the turnovers and take the win. Bayley Wells and I have a huge amount of pride for this team and what they were able to do this season. They were strong, committed and really well connected as a group. They really cared for each other and played for each other and have built a really solid foundation for next season. There’s plenty to celebrate and although runners up isn’t what we were hoping for it’s a terrific achievement and one that we should all be proud of.

Match Report:
Under 17’s = PREMIERS!! Chelsea (19) Vs Mornington (16) Our under 17’s started the day in cracking form. It was always going to be a tough game against Mornington, through the season we won one game and they won the other and they are a fantastic team. We started a bit shaky with the GF nerves on show for each team. But as things settled we remained in relative control for majority of the game despite just a narrow margin. The girls showed composure beyond their years and this was the theme for the entire finals series. Sienna Koop & Emma Storey were phenomenal in defence, with Sienna taking a great intercept in the dying seconds of the game. Tamsin Weston worked super hard in the mid court and fought for every ball that came her way and provided stability in the mid court. Every single player played their role on game day and over the course of the season and Kate and I could not be happier with each players contribution, effort and growth over the season and finals. The girls really did it the hard way, finishing 4th and having to win 3 elimination finals to get there, so to take out the premiership is an amazing feat. They earned their spot to get there, and earned the win on the weekend. Huge congratulations goes to Darcy Close on a great game and being awarded the best on court medal as voted by the umpires 👏🏻 What made this win even sweeter for the girls and the club is the fact that this was the FIRST EVER PREMIERSHIP for Chelsea FNC. These girls made history and are so deserving of it. Well done to Kate Mellon & the 17’s team.
