A little under six feet tall and of medium build, Ross was a very resourceful and fearless footballer. Capable of playing centre he was also a very dangerous half forward with great goal sense.
A Chelsea boy throughout his life, Ross played his football with enormous courage, often suffering some bone jarring collisions as he maintained focus on the ball even in extremely risky circumstances. The fact that he was able to play 189 senior games is an excellent reflection on his durability and capacity to withstand the physical battering that often came his way.
Ross Main was a wonderful player for the Club who maintained a loyalty to the Seagulls right up to his passing in 2003.
