Grandson of former Fitzroy great Norm Johnstone, Travis has made his own name as a star mid-fielder in the AFL. The number one selection in the 1997 draft, he rewarded the Demons with excellent form culminating in him finishing fourth in the 2002 Brownlow. He continued to accumulate large numbers on the stats sheet each week until 2007 when he was restricted by a nagging achilles injury. His form suffered although he amassed an amazing 42 possessions in his swan song game for the Dees.
Melbourne’s youth program led to the trading of Travis to Brisbane Lions in 2008. This drew great angst from the Demon supporters with whom he had become very popular.
