The crowd all seemed to murmur the same words whenever Brownie broke free with the ball. “Here we go.” It was the tone that varied. The Chelsea supporters were excited with the possibilities, whilst their counterparts contemplated a bad outcome.
Once free, Ian was a serious threat to any opposition. He simply could not be caught and would proceed to dissect the defence of even the best teams with scintillating runs down the ground.
Brownie was in a class of his own.
Ian Brown passed away on 11th March 2019 aged 78.
