Senior Games: 16
Senior Captain: 1976
By anybody’s standards, Noel was a radical thinker when it came to football.
Appointed as the club’s senior coach shortly before the start of the season, he set about the task with enthusiasm and vigour.
Innovative, unpredictable, inspiring and unconventional, his methods were admired and ridiculed at the same time. Conservatives were wary and critical, pro-activists loved him and, most importantly, his team loved him and they showed it on the ground with a string of victories.
Sadly for all concerned, Noel’s tenure only lasted one year but for many, it was most memorable and could well have ended better, had it not been for some lapses during the final series.
