SECONDS WIN CHELSEA’S
THIRD FLAG FOR SEASON
The 1966 football season is one that is never likely to be forgotten by Chelsea Football Club. It has been one of the best seasons in the club’s history, and last Saturday, the Chelsea seconds defeated Carrum to give the club its third pennant for the season.
Chelsea began better than Carrum and, playing strong systematic football, looked much the better side.
At three quarter time with Chelsea leading by 48 points the game seemed to be all over.
Then Carrum came with a desperate last quarter bid to pull the game out of the fire. They took play right up to Chelsea and for almost the whole term the ball was in the Carrum forward area.
Chelsea was kept scoreless for the quarter and had Carrum kicked a little straighter it could have taken the game. Carrum kicked 5.8 for the quarter.
