With Bonnie Johnstone as Coach and Alf Evans having a stellar season, winning both the Club and Competition Best & Fairest awards, Chelsea mounted a strong challenge finishing 3rd on the ladder. Approaching the finals with some confidence the seagulls were unfortunately outgunned by Cheltenham to exit the race at the first hurdle. It was however a much improved performance from the seasiders.

Complementing the effort of the Senior Team, the Juniors played some brilliant football at the pointy end of the season to win the flag convincingly.

1947 was a very good year.
