ALLAN BAYLIS—THE LEADER
A successful football team must have someone able to instil tenacity into it as well as tactical advice. In this regard Newcastle City Australian Rules Team is fortunate to have Allan Baylis, a former captain at Chelsea in the Victorian Football Association as its coach.
On many occasions Baylis has urged his team on to succeed when defeat seemed imminent. His careful handling of promising juniors is paying dividends. The introduction of several of them to the senior side has given it a much needed lift. This astute tactician has more to do with the Blue’s success than might meet the casual eye.

ALLAN BAYLIS TOO ILL TO PLAY
It was with regret that the club learned that one of its brilliant players, Allan Baylis will not be playing football this season. He is seriously ill in a military hospital and is expected to be there for some time. The sympathy of the club goes to this player and his wife.
