Presidents Notice
19 March 2021
Dear Members,
It has been a while since my last communication with many things and nothing happening at the same time over the past 8 months.
Although we did not get the opportunity to play football or netball in season 2020 the board and coaches have remained busy preparing for the upcoming 2021 season.
Before I go any further, I would like to publicly thank our Board members who have maintained focus on kicking the club back into life after we had to basically moth ball everything after the season cancellation last year, without doubt the last 12 months has been one of the biggest challenges I have faced in leadership either in business or in volunteer roles and appreciate the continued support of the board and our volunteers who just keep giving I sincerely thank you.
I would also like to thank our Head coaches of football James Brain and Netball Carly Webster for there tireless work in ensuring our playing groups were supported in the down time during COVID and have now returned to the club to resume playing in 2021. It’s the behind the scenes work that is not seen but has the biggest positive impact on both individuals and the club.
The football dept this year will field reserves and seniors; we were unable to field the under 19 team for the first time but are focused on ensuring 2022 we will be back to 3 teams. The netball for this season will field 5 teams in line with 2019.
This weekend 20/3 we host Bon Beach for a practice match under lights with the day starting at 1.00pm, Bon beach under 19’s V Mazenod, 3.00pm Reserves, 5.00pm Seniors.
Round 1 kicks off on Easter Saturday at home versus Crib Point, this should be a massive start to the season we are expecting big crowds to come back to local footy being the only game in the local region on Easter Saturday and still limited crowds at AFL games. We were originally scheduled to play away but Crib Points facility refurbishment is not yet complete due to COVID impacts.

One of the big unknowns coming into 2021 was how many of our loyal sponsors would be able to support the club this season with many businesses closed for months on end. I am proud to say we have not had any sponsor partners not be able to support the club in some form for this season, we are very grateful to all companies and individuals for supporting our great club along with the new sponsors who have come onboard this year.
When you come to the ground next you will see a change in the sponsor signage, we have had all sponsor signs professionally sign written and repositioned across the ground, this will be nearly complete prior to this weekend’s match with final signs installed prior to round 1, the revamp is nothing short of impressive and will provide greater visibility to our sponsors.
As we all know sponsorship revenue is critical to the continued day to day running of the club and investment in improving facilities, if you own a business and, in a position to consider getting on board this year please touch base with myself for a discussion on 0410305360.
Memberships for the 2021 Coterie club are now available, we have reviewed the offer for this year and reduced the Coterie membership price to $400 for the season. If you are looking to purchase a Coterie membership, please give Vinney a call on 0411578940 he will be happy to help you out.
For Season memberships please contact Col on 0409356549 or
visit website.
With COVID restrictions still in place we need to work within government and AFL guidelines. As a result of this we cannot have spectators on the ground for the quarter, half time and 3 quarter breaks. The change rooms will also be limited to players and officials only, I would ask if we could all respect our volunteers that will be tasked in managing these components of game day and comply with the guidelines even if we disagree with the rules that have been put in place. Let’s hope things keep improving and this is relaxed later in the season.
We also ask all who attend games to register using QR Code strategically placed around the facility.
With only 3 weeks to go we are nearly ready to kick the season off and be able to see plenty of old faces back at the club and hopefully some new ones as well.
We look forward to seeing you all at round 1 Easter Saturday and here’s hoping we have a cracking year for the Chelsea Seagulls.
Kind Regards
Michael Davis
